Heißhunger auf
Born from a nostalgic kitchen conversation with my mother about Bookweiten- Janhinnerk, a disappearing traditional buckwheat pancake from our Emsland region, this project evolved beyond its academic brief of 'Finding answers at a flea market in Osnabrück'. While creating the book, my mother and I spent time making these traditional pancakes, turning our research into a lived experience. The story explores how sometimes cultural heritage can't be preserved through digital means alone but lives on through personal connections and unexpected discoveries. It's a tale about finding home in lost recipes.
Book illustrations for a 10x10cm Pixibuch-style picture book (20 pages), created as a university project about cultural heritage and local food traditions. All illustrations were digitally hand-drawn using PaintTool SAI 2. The creative process involved digital sketching, line art, and coloring layers. The text was handwritten to complement the hand-drawn aesthetic maintained throughout the work.
